A Mt. Vernon man has been arrested in a Chicago suburb on Child Pornography charges.

On Tuesday, officers from Palatine Police Department arrested 54-year-old David Edwards on a Jefferson County arrest warrant.

The arrest warrant for Edwards was a result of an investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division, who are members of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

The investigation began on July 14 thanks to a cybertip provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. It resulted in multiple search warrants for electronic devices, data, and eventually a search warrant of Edwards’ home in Mt. Vernon.

The search warrants resulted in collection and seizure of multiple items of evidence. When the investigation was completed, the information was forwarded to the States Attorney’s Office for review, and an arrest warrant for Edwards was issued.
