Hazardous Household Waste Collection Set for June 7 in Carbondale

Jackson County residents can safely dispose of hazardous household chemicals at a one-day collection event in Carbondale this Saturday, June 7.

Accepted items include oil-based paints, pesticides, old gasoline, motor oil, rechargeable batteries, pool chemicals, propane tanks, and mercury thermometers. Latex paint, electronics, and medical waste will not be accepted.

The event is for Illinois residents only — no businesses or farms.The event runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Banterra Center south parking lot — but appointments are required.
