The Illinois Department of Transportation reports a culvert replacement project will require Illinois 149 to be closed in both directions this weekend at the Sims Street intersection in Franklin County.

IDOT says the work will start, weather permitting, at 6 p.m. on Friday.

A posted detour will be in place to safely guide drivers around the closure. The work is expected to be complete by 6 a.m. on Monday.

The Illinois Department of Transportation is alerting drivers about the closure of a portion of Interstate 57 in Williamson County for a 12-hour period.

IDOT says steel erection operations on the bridge carrying Grassy Road over Interstate 57 just south of Marion will require a full closure in both directions of I-57 between exits 45 and 54 starting, weather permitting, at 7 p.m. on Sunday. All lanes will reopen by 7 a.m. Monday. The northbound on-ramps at Old Illinois 13 and Illinois 13 will remain open.

During that time, IDOT says a marked detour will be in place to direct northbound and southbound traffic around the work zone between exits 45 and 54.

The detour will utilize Illinois 13 and Illinois 148 in both directions.

Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
